This will be achieved by addressing four objectives:

1. Map out the research literature, which will help to

identify any gaps.

2. Examine the available evidence about young carers’ caring experiences while attending second level

education and their perceptions regarding their future

career.

3. Explore the extent and format of previous and current

research that investigates young carers’ experiences of

caring whilst attending second level education.

4. Examine the theoretical frameworks that have been

used to underpin research on young carers’ experiences

of caring and the multimodal factors that impact on

their caring experience.
