An organization involved in crisis response (or perhaps the organization responsible for the environmental crisis) must be able to respond promptly, accurately, and confidently during an emergency in the hours and days that follow.
An important component of crisis preparedness is the crisis communications plan. An organization involved in crisis response (or perhaps the organization responsible for the environmental crisis) must be able to respond promptly, accurately, and confidently during an emergency in the hours and days that follow. Many different audiences must be reached with information specific to their interests and needs. The image of an organization can be positively or negatively impacted by public perceptions of the handling of the incidentalso, peoples health and safety are on the line. Understanding potential audiences are key, as each audience wants to know: How does it affect me? Also, different demographic groups have different information needs, media uses, preferred information sources, levels of trust in government officials, etc. All of this needs to be considered in a crisis communication plan.

3. Who is included in the plan?
4.Who is excluded from the plan?
5.Describe UWs specific approach to communication for a crisis/emergency.

A few notes:
If you find the UW crisis communication plan hard to understand/read, thats okay. Tell us why.
If you think the UW plan is awesome, thats okay. Tell us why.
The point of this activity is to get you thinking critically about what is important for crisis communication planning. Additionally, another point of this activity is to practice supporting your arguments!
