The midterm essay requires no outside research, however all must cite the text you are writing about. Minimum 1000 words, M.L.A. format. There are several options for the direction of your paper. Here are the options:
Discuss a poet and their poetry (minimum 2 poems)
Compare and contrast poems by two different poets
Do an explication of one poem. (line by line analysis)
Discuss how the poet employs language
Look at the poems form and structure (for example, McKay and the sonnet)
You can discuss how language is played with the poets use of figures of speech
