Learning Goal: I’m working on a cultural studies multi-part question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.
This essay will be evaluated on the basis of your ability to make statements, substantiate those statements with evidence and other forms of logic, and provide analysis of the issues addressed in the questions.
Using examples from the readings contained in the books Occupied America and A Cross of
Thorns, write an essay in which you identify and analyze the different components of the Mexican American War
(theoretical, legal, and historical underpinnings).
a. Evaluate the events that detonated in the conflict of 1846, and its effects on the
population of Mexican descent in the U. S. Southwest.
b. Identify how American Imperialism was a result of expansionist tendencies fueled by
Manifest Destiny.
c. Asses the legal mechanisms through which Mexicans in the Southwest became
strangers in their own land.
