Feelings of insecurity

Love is a common theme in many cultures, but it is not always the sole — or even primary — reason people choose romantic partners or even spouses. Some other factors that influence love relationships are: 1. Feelings of insecurity 2. Physical beauty 3. Economics 4. Dependency 5. Fear of being alone 6. Sexual gratification For this assignment, you will choose two cultures other than the U.S. (American culture) and research their practices on dating, love, and marriage. This will be written in paragraph form. Consider the following questions when writing your paper. What two cultures did you choose to compare?

What is each culture’s practice of dating? According to your research, are relationships that are not based only on romantic love still “loving” relationships? What factor, other than romantic love, are the people of the cultures you chose most likely to consider when choosing a spouse? Base your argument on the research you found. Did the research indicate if a person’s gender influences the factor used to select a spouse? If yes, explain how. Did you find anything special or unusual about the practices of dating, love, and marriage for each culture?
