Dr. Richard Mayer (2014) concludes his book, The Cambridge Handbook of Multimedia Learning, with the following statement:
As technological capabilities and span increase, applying these guidelines will promote a learner-centric rather than media centric view. In short, e-learning resources will be designed to be consistent with the strengths and limits of human cognitive processes, rather than leveraging digital capabilities that in fact may be inconsistent with human learning psychology and evidence of what works. (p. 873)
