identify a CLAIM from your reading (be sure to properly cite it within the text).

CLAIM-ANALYSIS PAPERS You are expected to turn in five Claim-Analysis papers over the course of the term.  Like Self-Evaluation Papers, they should be typed (following guidelines) and should follow the Claim-Analysis-Example format.  Each paper is due on the day of the reading you are analyzing.  Please include the chapter number in the title of the paper.  These are simple response papers to demonstrate your understanding of a concept in your reading.  You may illustrate or challenge any claim made in the reading with concrete, specific examples.

First, identify a CLAIM from your reading (be sure to properly cite it within the text). Briefly explain the intent of the claim.  Remember, a claim is a statement that is given publicly for the adherence of others.  It is something that is debatablethere needs to be more than one viewpoint to make an argument.  Second, ANALYZE the claim.  Explain what you think the claim means and whether you agree or disagree with it.  Third, give an EXAMPLE (i.e., the people, behavior, setting/context, dialogue, etc.) that supports or challenges the claim and offer your ANALYSIS of the claim.  This example may be drawn from your experience, the experience of those you know, books, newspapers, magazines, journals, radio, television, film, or music. Again, please be sure to properly cite your examples (again, in-text is sufficient).
