Why is quality difficult to define?

Why is quality of life of particular importance in long-term care?

What are the purpose and functions of a quality assurance (QA) committee?

How do process, structure, and outcomes measures differ?

What are the differences between QA and continuous quality improvement (CQI)? The similarities?

What are quality indicators?

What incentives are there, if any, for individual long-term care providers or groups of providers to think in terms of the overall system when focusing on quality?

What disincentives exist in the payment system when it comes to improving quality? How can they be overcome?

 Write an initial post addressing most of these questions referring to material from the readings. Reply to two classmates expanding upon these questions.
