Mid-Term Paper – Each student will complete a research paper of the academic literature on a topic related to management principles.  This paper must be between 1,500 – 2,000 words (in addition to title page, abstract, and references), and use at least three academic peer reviewed scholarly journal articles. Paper will need to be submitted in SafeAssign in Blackboard, following professional standards as a scholarly paper, including following all APA (APA 7th Edition) formatting guidelines. Paper should have clear writing, organization, and good analysis (critical thinking) applied, and include an introduction (including thesis statement), supporting body with academic references, and a conclusion. Tie management principles to another discipline, or tie another discipline to management principles. This paper is worth 100 points (Approx. 12% of Total Grade).
What this involves is taking concepts from any of the eight chapters we are covering in our course and sharing how the concepts actually connect with and/or complement another discipline. Which discipline is whatever you want to use and is of interest to you. It may very well be a discipline that you are majoring in. For example, if your major is Construction Management, research and share various course concepts that would enhance the construction management field and careers. How would being knowledgeable of management skills assist a construction manager? You can do this to any other discipline, such as even someone wanting to go to medical school to become a doctor. Why would also attaining an MBA help someone wanting to open their own medical practice in rural Kansas?
What is a good definition of interdisciplinary studies? Combining or involving two or more academic disciplines or fields of study: The economics and history departments are offering an interdisciplinary seminar on Asia. Combining or involving two or more professions, technologies, departments, or the like, as in business or industry.
