There are racial and economic disparities in both healthcare and health outcomes, i.e. insurance status, living in underserved communities, being underrepresented in the healthcare professions, being uninformed about healthcare services and need and distrust of the health care systems. Community justice demands that there be health equity and restorative justice demands that steps be implemented to achieve health equity.
1. Define health equity.
2. Describe at least two major healthcare disparities, i.e. the difference in health outcome between racial groups (e.g. Maternal Mortality, Cancer, etc.)
3. Discuss at least two strategies to combat and decrease healthcare disparities.
