Overview: Safety Management Systems (SMS) are aviation organisations’ adaptations of the SRM process into everyday operations. An SMS is a top-down comprehensive management program that connects different system safety tools and best practices around a transparent, non-punitive, closed-loop reporting system. The success of Safety Management Systems is predicated on a strong safety culture, solid documentation, and trust.
