Using a website of your choice, examples include National Geographic (https://www.nationalgeographic.org/education/classroom-resources/ (Links to an external site.)),Teachers Pay Teachers (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/ (Links to an external site.)) or the Teaching Channel (https://www.teachingchannel.org/ (Links to an external site.)), find an activity that could be used with K-1st graders to help them explore their identity. Provide the link to the resource you use, such as https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Identity-Being-a-Group-Member-Stage-1-HSIE-2105917 (Links to an external site.). Make sure your link takes me directly to the resource you used. I want you to structure your 2-page paper in the following way:
- Provide the link for your exact resource and describe it
- Complete the activity yourself or have a child aged 4-6 years old complete the activity. Explain your experience either doing the activity yourself or with an actual child. What did you learn about yourself or the child through this activity? Do you think this resource is something you would use with a future class to explore their identity? Why or why not?
- Do you think it is important to discuss identity and diversity with children beginning in kindergarten? Why or why not? How do you think your perspective on this could influence your teaching style?
You will upload your two-page paper to Canvas. Papers will be checked for plagiarism, so make sure your paper is unique and does not share similarity with other students or other resources. You do not have to cite using APA for this assignment, but I expect your link to be perfect so that I can look at your resource while reading your paper. If possible, a completed version of your activity can be emailed to me or included in your paper, but it will not count as a page.
