The following is your second of three short-essay questions for ANTH 206. It is based on your readings in Price & Knudson, chapters 6-9, though you may refer to other scholarly sources as well (including my lectures and Revealing Archaeology). Your response will be worth up to a maximum of 20 points:

– In the middle chapters of Principles of Archaeology, Price & Knudson continue with their overview of the archaeological process, focusing on excavation and analysis. According to your textbook authors, what steps do archaeologists take to properly conduct an investigation in the field? How do we stabilize and organize our findings for interpretation and preservation? Also, how do we handle the element of time as it applies to archaeological work? (HINT: Pay particular attention to Price & Knudson chapters 6-8.)
