King’s Letter clearly evokes a kind of morality based on duties prescribed by universal maxims.
While his understanding of moral duty comes from religious convictions rather than a belief in the infallibility of universal reason, there is something distinctly Kantian in the way he approaches the moral questions he is addressing in this letter.
In your view, does King’s position described in the letter align with Kant’s Categorical Imperative and/or any of the other authors we have read so far in this course? Justify your position.
