You should write one paragraph

Each Discussion Forum will consist of three topics. You should select one topic (and identify it in the heading of your post, for example, Topic 1) of which to write your initial post ensuring that you respond to all three prompts/questions contained within the topic. You should write one paragraph (4-5 sentences per prompt).

You should incorporate and in-text cite material from the course text or the article (or other resources) to support your standpoint for at least one of the three prompts you are responding to. Then you should cite the full reference (if an outside resource) at the bottom of your initial post. If you use an outside resource, you may find Purdue Owl, which is searchable, helpful on how to cite it (they use various formats such as MLA, APA, Chicago Style, etc.): https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/purdue_owl.html

Topic 3: Sociological Imagination An important goal of this course text is to take you on a journey through sociological knowledge and theory to help you gain a better understanding of the discipline of sociology as well as to help you develop your sociological imagination. Our sociological imagination helps us to understand how the social world impacts our lives and the lives of others and how we can also influence our social world. 1. Identify something that you learned in this class that surprised you.

Why did it surprise you? 2. According to C. Wright Mills, sociological thinking “[i]n many ways, is a terrible lesson; in many ways a magnificent one.” What does Mills mean by this statement? Explain. 3. What is one public issue that you would like to see addressed. Why did you select this issue?
